Women's Boxing (Levels 1-4)
RRES 200 - Women's Boxing 1
Women’s Boxing 1 is an 8-week course geared to teach females the basics of boxing. All classes are led by a female instructor with strictly female participants in class! Along with learning a new form of self-defense, you will also get a great workout in through various exercises and circuits. Classes are one hour long. There’s no better way to start your day than a great boxing workout. No prior experience is needed for this class.

Co-Ed Boxing (Levels 1-4)
RRES 200 - Co-Ed Boxing 1
Get into shape by participating in the sport of USA Olympic Style Boxing. Students will be taken through a boxer’s workout in a safe and comfortable environment while learning boxing punches, a proper boxing stance, footwork, movement, shadow boxing, and self-defense. Students will be introduced to the many rhythmic bags, heavy bags, and focus mitts. Learning the sport of boxing is a fun way to relieve stress, gain self-confidence, get stronger, leaner, and faster, while developing a sense of self through boxing ethics. There will be no sparring in this course.

RRES 200 - Co-Ed Boxing 2
In compliance with USA Boxing regulations, Boxing 2 teaches the students how to properly use the focus mitts in order to create a safe environment for punch mitt training. Students will learn how to create punch mitt combinations, how to use proper footwork, and how to incorporate defense maneuvers. There will be no sparring in this course.

In compliance with USA Boxing regulations, Boxing 3 teaches students proper form and technique on the heavy bag. Students will learn how to execute single punches and combinations with proper form and technique, proper placement, speed, power, transference of weight, recoil, and accuracy in order to prevent injury, increase punching power, establish proper footwork, and balance. There will be no sparring in this course.

RRES 200 - Co-Ed Boxing 4
Boxing 4 will emphasize boxing skills needed for competition. Students will learn how to move in the ring, get off the ropes and out of the corner, work the corner as a coach, USA Boxing rules including how to judge a boxing match, how to be an inside boxer, pressure boxer, defensive boxer and how develop a style to suit their body type. In compliance with Amateur or Olympic-style boxing programs, Boxing 4 also provides these opportunities for participants: respect for the ring, respect for the sport and its rules, character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, structure, and work ethic. No sparring course.

First Aid/CPR
RRES 200 - American Red Cross First Aid/CPR
This course is designed to give individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) for victims of sudden cardiac arrest, until advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. The course will also address the recognition, prevention and control of possible health and safety issues, both in the workplace and personally, including topics such as Ergonomics, Slips, Trips, and Falls, Workplace Violence Awareness, Back Injury Prevention, Managing Stress, and Heart Health. Participants will also learn how bloodborne pathogens are spread; how to help prevent exposure incidents by following work practice controls, how to use engineering controls and personal protective equipment, practice good personal hygiene and properly clean and disinfect equipment and supplies, and recognize, report and follow up on employee exposures to infectious materials, following guidelines from the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Certification requirements include: 1) attend all course sessions; 2) demonstrate competency in all skill sessions in the course and pass all written examinations with a score of 80% or better in each section.
Certificates include: “First Aid Basics”, “Adult, Child, and Infant CPR”, “AED Essentials for Adult and Child”, and “Bloodborne Pathogens: Preventing Disease Transmission”.
There are no prerequisites for this course. Books are included in the course fee.

Yoga
DANCE 599 - Yoga
This course will introduce the student to the fundamentals of Yoga postures and breathing, sequencing of exercises for a safe practice, ten or more postures, and an introduction to the history and philosophy of Yoga.
Please have a yoga/exercise mat and wear comfortable clothing that allows a full range of movement. It is best not to eat for at least two hours before the class.

Pole Silks
KIN 101 - Pole Silks
This course is designed to teach students an appreciation for the combination of pole fitness and aerial silks through strength and conditioning, standardized pole spins and maneuvers, and choreography. This is a physically challenging class incorporating body weight exercises, flexibility training and cardiovascular exercise.
