2025 Updates: Navigate Reimplementation
We’ve been working with EAB to overhaul the infrastructure behind the Navigate platform to improve reliability, workflows, and data management. K-State was one of the first PeopleSoft schools to join EAB, and as such, the legacy decisions that were made at that time are no longer the best way to connect Navigate to our student information.
As part of this 6 month process, we’ve made many back-end changes that will improve stability and data reliability. As part of this change, there are a number of other platform improvements now available to the K-State user community.
AI Report Assistant and Message Content Creator
WHAT IT DOES: Message Content Creator is a feature for partners with Navigate AI Capabilities. It allows users to enhance email and text message content in Navigate. For example, it works with Send a Message actions as well as when creating any sort of content (e.g. nudges, welcome messages, success messages) for a campaign.
HOW TO USE IT: If a user wants to auto-enhance an existing message, they can select Enhance with no other options selected. When more help is needed for creating a message, users can now enter a prompt and select options from the Tone and Message Length fields to further customize their request.
WHAT IT DOES: The AI Filter Assistant works with Navigate V3 reports to quickly suggest and apply report filters. When enabled, the AI Filter Assistant button shows in the Data Filters panel in all V3 reports the user may normally access.
HOW TO USE IT: Selecting the AI Filter Assistant button causes the panel to open, users then enter a plain language prompt for their desired report and select Generate Filters.
WHAT IT DOES: To facilitate finding the correct V3 report more quickly and then setting up the filters for that report, partners with NavAI now have access to AI Report Finder. Once opened, the AI Report Finder allows users to make inquiries in natural text to find the data they are looking for and to get results that recommend the report and initial data filters the user needs to get the data they want.
HOW TO USE IT: When the user selects the recommended link, it will open the suggested report with a pre-filled initial set of filters, if appropriate. Users can manually edit or update the suggested data filters or can open the AI Filter Assistant to iterate on the suggested prompt with plain language inputs.
Other New or Improved Features
WHAT IT DOES: Navigate360 for Student Success introduces new improvements for the Staff Dashboard. Our goal is to provide customizable tiles from saved staff member reports that update daily to reduce time spent finding information. Any saved V3 report can be turned into a custom tile.
HOW TO USE IT: Do this by selecting the Add Tile option from the Settings button and selecting options from the Add Tile panel. Read Navigate help article (external link)
WHAT IT DOES: Navigate360 Staff Workflows and Automations has added branding headers and footers for messages. These work with Content Templates to provide customized branding.
HOW TO USE IT: To add a new branding template header and footer, the user selects Add Branding Template. They can then add the header and footer content and preview it in mobile, tablet, and desktop modes, much like a Content Template.
WHAT IT DOES: The Journeys feature in Navigate360 helps students understand and complete essential steps towards their goals. Designed to extend beyond mere course planning, these Journeys empower students to focus on proactive, forward-thinking milestones crucial to their college experience. Some examples of Journeys an institution might configure include New Student Onboarding, First-Year Student Orientation, Affording College, Getting a Job, Graduate School Planning, Preparing for Graduation, and Mental Health & Wellness.
HOW TO USE IT: Students can access Journeys from the main menu on Navigate360 desktop or mobile. If a student has not been assigned any Journeys and wants to add one, they can explore Journeys your school has created and published using the Explore All Journeys option.
WHAT IT DOES: Checklist is an upgraded version of the To-Do’s and Events page for students. It synthesizes personal To-Do’s for students, staff-assigned To-Do’s, To-Do’s/Events/Tips created in the Content Administration Tool, and Journey Steps into a single list.
HOW TO USE IT: Students can view more items on Checklist and do not need to load their items a week at a time, as in the previous To-Do’s and Events page.
WHAT IT DOES: Content Templates allow users to create a library of reusable templates that can be saved or shared for common frequent communications.
HOW TO USE IT: Access content templates by going to User Settings >> Content Templates. Click on "Add Template" to start working with a blank template. On the "Public Templates" Tab, users will see content templates that have been marked as a Public Template by other users (with appropriate permissions) at their institution, as well as a few EAB Starter Templates.
Use pre-appointment questions to send a survey out to students before an appointment; for example, tutoring centers could use pre-appointment questions to have students upload assignments before meeting with a tutor. Another way to use this feature is to enter more information, e.g. telling an advisor which major they want to change to in pre-appointment questions for a Major Change appointment.
For V3 reports, users can select Custom Attributes when creating a filter. If enabled, they also appear in the report results and is available as a column in the report output. Specifically, we are importing answers from the WellCat 1 Minute Survey from Fall 2024.
WHAT IT DOES: We have added new preview actions to Send Message. This gives users the ability to preview the message that will be sent in mobile, tablet, and desktop modes.
HOW TO USE IT: When a user selects "preview message," a popup appears where users can toggle between mobile, tablet, and desktop previews.
