Social Media Ambassadors

2026-2027 Academic Year

The Division of Academic Success and Student Affairs and the Office of Enrollment Management’s communications and marketing departments seek applicants for undergraduate social media ambassadors. The ambassadors will support the work of the offices and the university by creating dynamic, engaging and original content for use on social media.

In addition, ambassadors will participate in professional development opportunities designed to increase their career readiness, build relevant skills and network with professionals at K-State.

This opportunity satisfies the requirements for two (2) applied learning experiences, equivalent to two one-credit-hour courses, one (1) per semester completed. Ambassadors receive a stipend for their participation.

Responsibilities

• Propose, create and edit creative, action-oriented vertical short-form videos (Reels), photographs or graphics for use on social media that showcase authentic student stories and align to digital marketing trends.
• Generate a minimum of six (6) pieces of content during the semester, unless other arrangements have been made with supervisor.
• Increase the university’s brand awareness and engagement and adhere to brand consistency in all content.
• Thoughtfully participate in professional development opportunities and reflection activities.
• Communicate effectively with departmental and division staff, other ambassadors, and campus partners, including through email, Microsoft Teams, Zoom calls and other methods.

Qualifications

• Kansas State University undergraduate student enrolled in the Fall 2026 semester.
• Pursuing a degree in journalism and mass communications, English, public relations, marketing or related field.
• Experience with multi-platform communications, including video production and editing, photography, graphic design and desktop publishing using Adobe Creative Cloud.
• Ability to use social media as a storytelling tool to a variety of audiences including current and prospective students, family members, and campus partners.
• Skill in generating engaging, unique, and informative content.
• Possesses strong organizational skills.
• Maintains a team-oriented work ethic and positive attitude.

Renumeration and Benefits

Ambassadors will receive a stipend of $675 per semester, applied to their Kansas State University account, on the condition that participation requirements are satisfied.

In addition, ambassadors will meet the requirements of one applied learning experience per semester, the equivalent of a one-credit course.
