Student Support and Accountability | Honor and Integrity System

The Honor and Integrity System focuses on educating the K-State Community about academic integrity while also investigating and adjudicating cases of academic misconduct among K-State students. Job Summary

The Office of Student Support and Accountability graduate student will work directly with the K-State Honor and Integrity System (75%) as well as the Student Code of Conduct Process (25%).

The successful GA will assist the Director of the Honor and Integrity System in the operation of the Honor and Integrity System on the Manhattan, Salina and Olathe campuses, but the GA position is heavily focused on the educational component of the system. The GA will also assist with advising the judicial branch of Student Government Association (SGA). SGA’s judicial branch is comprised of the Student Review Board and Student Tribunal, both of which are made up of K-State students who review complaints and appeals filed through the Student Code of Conduct and as outlined in SGA’s Constitution, Statutes, and By-Laws.

This is a half time (20 hours/week) GA for 9 months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Enrollment as a current graduate student at Kansas State University, with preference for those in the College of Education.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Canva.

Renumeration and Benefits

  • $12,000 distributed over 9 months. The position is 20 hours per week.
  • Eligibility for in-state tuition rates (but not a tuition waiver).
  • Health insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching (independently or with a Practicum student) EDCEP 160 (Development and Integrity Class), during the fall and spring semester in both face-to-face and online venues. This course is a sanctioned course for students who have violated the university honor pledge.
  • Promote concepts of academic integrity and positive student behavior through presentations to students and faculty.
  • Assist in advising judicial boards and attending hearings and meetings.
  • Assist, when applicable, in the code revision process of the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Maintain professional integrity, confidentiality, respect and sensitivity with the confidential information in both systems and processes.
  • Support office outreach through tabling or university recruitment events.
  • Other potential tasks include:
    • Meet with alleged violators in preparation for an Honor Council meeting.
    • Assist in adjudicating cases through an administrative hearing process.
    • Assist with an assessment plan for the office.
    • Implement and Promote “Integrity Week” to be held during the Spring Semester.
  • Other duties as assigned.
