Community Building
College is about more than classes. It’s a place to find your people, and there’s no better place to start than in the residence halls.
Facilitating community building has always been a priority of Housing and Dining Services, but last year, they took it to a whole new level.
Thanks to innovative partnerships with Student Programs and Involvement, the residence halls are intentionally centering community as a hallmark of on-campus living.
- Get Involved: Campus involvement leads to a more fulfilling experience
- Academic and Career Success: Prepare for classes and post-graduation life
- Well-being: Take care of the whole self
- Personal Growth: Develop skills to be a better individual
Beginning in Fall 2025, HDS became a Cat Trax partner, significantly expanding opportunities for students to engage with campus programming through HDS and Union Program Council events. Additionally, HDS began using OrgCentral as an information hub. Now, each residence hall has its own OrgCentral page where students can view upcoming events, newsletters, and staff contact information.
The result was a more streamlined and consistent experience for residents. Staff noticed an increase in event participation, more utilization of Cat Trax checklists, and an enhanced ability to connect students with student organizations.
When a resident expressed interest in a student organization, staff were quickly able to provide connection with current officers. In the past, students had to rely on generic email accounts or outdated webpages. OrgCentral made the process easier and more reliable.
New Events. Same Great Experience.
Housing staff continually develop new programs to meet the needs of their residents. We're sharing two new programs--one launched last year, and one expanding in AY26-27.

Building Relationships with Union Program Council
Union Program Council plans events for students, by students. The scope of the activities varies, from substance-free after hours activities each Friday, large scale events, multicutural experiences, and everything in between.
The result is a wide array of engaging events that showcase the rich community K-State has to offer.
