As a Pre-law Political Science major in my 4th year at K-State, one of the highlights of my college experience has been studying abroad. As a first-generation student, I was hesitant to consider studying abroad because I was unaware of the different programs tailored towards specific majors, the variety in program lengths, and funding support. However, after looking into the education abroad website and hearing from other student experiences, I was able to find the perfect program tailored towards my future goals and interests. In January of 2025 during Winter break, I got the opportunity to do a faculty-led study abroad program studying Politics of Culture, Immigration, and Race in France. The program was 8-days long and truly an experience I will never forget. We got to immerse ourselves into the French culture through hands-on bread making, learning the history and significance of bread in France, walking tours through historical towns that are still being impacted today by immigration, speak with political activists and more! This sparked my interest in becoming a peer advisor for education abroad as I hope to help students find the resources and information to study abroad during their time here at K-State.
