Skill 24
Perform a check after cool-down
At some point, the emotional arousal will evaporate. If the anger was intense, we may feel exhausted. Once you are calm, take time to relax and think about what happened. What lessons can you learn and apply in the future?

Consider using your journal as a way to keep track of your comments.

What happened to arouse my anger? Was my anger reasonable or unreasonable? How did I respond? What were the real consequences of my response? How did the other person respond? How am I feeling now? What do I need to do now and in the near future?

This check should occur as closely as possible to the circumstances that triggered our anger. It's a lot easier to think when the turbulence of an emotion settles down.
