The Vice President for Research administers and promotes the university's research mission through a variety of supporting offices, services and dedicated research facilities.
The office oversees research compliance; patents and commercialization of inventions and technologies; the National Agricultural Biosecurity Center and the Biosecurity Research Institute.

Within the office
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs offers a range of services, including accounting, research communications, grant availability searches and grant writing classes to assist faculty. ORSP also oversees two central research facilities: the Electronics Design Lab and the Biotechnology Core Facility.
Preaward Services assists faculty in pursuing extramural funding.
University Research Compliance Office has responsibility for assuring the research is done in compliance with several parameters.
KSU Research Foundation helps faculty develop research into new products, technologies and innovations. KSURF offers patenting assistance and other economic development services including technology licensing and a business incubator.
