First esports tournament Oct. 8-9: Register your team today

Wildcat 91.9 FM and telecommunications provider WTC Communications will host the first annual WTC Fiber Cup Oct. 8-9 at Forum Hall in the K-State Student Union. The esports tournament will consist of 32 three-person teams playing Rocket League, an arcade-style soccer game, and will be streamed live on Twitch.

Registration is now open and free to all students.

Tournament hours are 4-10 p.m. Oct. 8, with game play starting at 6 p.m., and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 9. The championship game on Oct. 9 will include a matchup of the winning student team and the K-State Esports Club team, which includes three of the top five Rocket League players in Kansas.

The winning team will receive a trophy and $150. Second place will receive a trophy and $75.

Event sponsors include the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications' Wildcat 91.9 FM and The Collegian, WTC Communications/WTC Fiber Internet, K-State Student Union Program Council and K-State Esports Club.
