Summer 2020 course: Geology of the National Parks
Students with an interest in U.S. national parks are invited to enroll in an online summer offering of Geology of the National Parks — GEOL 315. This course is offered from Aug. 3-21.
GEOL 315 is designed to cover geological survey of the land forms, geological structures and geological hazards of America's National Parks. Each park's geological development through time is explained with special attention placed on how the geologic processes — igneous activity, mountain building and uplift, glaciation, weathering and erosion, wave action and groundwater — shaped and created the exceptional landscapes of the U.S. national parks and the impact of human activities on these unique places that we, as a nation, have chosen to preserve.
