• Exhibition: Konza: Sculpture by John Powers. July 9, 2012 through May 31, 2013, Beach Museum of Art. Konza is a large kinetic sculpture inspired by the natural beauty and movement of the nearby Konza prairie, and is the newest addition to the Beach Museum of Art's permanent collection. • Exhibition: Good Boy, Bad Boy: The Prints of John Boyd, 2013 Friends of the Beach Museum of Art Gift Print Artist. March 8 through May 26, 2013, Beach Museum of Art. This exhibition of John Boyd's printmaking captures the humor and occasional darkness in his art. The struggle between good and evil is a significant refrain in the artist's work.
• Exhibition: An American in Venice: James McNeill Whistler and His Legacy. April 2 through June 23, 2013, Beach Museum of Art. In 1879 American artist James McNeill Whistler arrived in Italy with a commission from the Fine Arts Society of London to create twelve etchings of Venice. During the ensuing fourteen months, he produced a body of prints that are among the most important of his career. This exhibition presents eleven of Whistler's Venice works alongside prints by other artists who worked in Italy during the late-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. A mingling of perspectives allows the viewer to appreciate Whistler's innovations and his impact on other artists. The exhibition is organized by the Syracuse University Art Galleries, New York.
• Exhibit: Generations of Success: K-State History in Special Collections. Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Feb. 13 - Dec. 31, 2013, 5th Floor Gallery, Hale Library. The exhibit features artifacts and papers that reflect the growth of the university since its inception in 1863, documenting K-State's history using items from the Richard L.D. & Marjorie J. Morse Department of Special Collections. Sponsored by the K-State Libraries.
