Gamma Sigma Delta honors faculty, students with annual awards

The Eta Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta at Kansas State University held its annual spring reception on Friday, April 19, to honor notable achievements within the agricultural and applied sciences. The event acknowledged contributions of students and faculty dedicated to the values of the land-grant mission.

Three undergraduate students were recognized for having top research posters at the Gamma Sigma Delta Undergraduate Research Showcase:

  • Justin Gross, senior in horticulture, third place.
  • Jack Kress, senior in animal sciences and industry, second place.
  • Audrey Tarochione, senior in animal sciences and industry, first place.

Additional honors were presented to graduate students excelling in agricultural research:

  • Sachin Dhanda, doctoral student in agronomy, received the Outstanding Ph.D. Graduate Student Research Award.
  • Rishabh Singh, master's student in agronomy, was awarded the Outstanding M.S. Graduate Student Research Award.

The event also recognized six faculty members for their significant contributions to their fields:

  • Kelsey Andersen Onofre, assistant professor of plant pathology, received the Early Career Award.
  • Brian Briggeman, professor of agricultural economics, was honored with the Excellence in Extension Award.
  • Logan Britton, assistant professor of agricultural economics, received the Outstanding Advising Award.
  • Mithila Jugulam, professor of agronomy, was awarded the Distinguished Faculty Award.
  • Doohong Min, associate professor of agronomy, received the Outstanding Teaching Award.
  • Nathan Nelson, professor of agronomy, was honored with the Outstanding Research Award.

Established in 1914, the Eta Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta is committed to upholding high standards of scholarship, character and proficiency in agricultural and related sciences. This faculty-governed honorary society is dedicated to advancing excellence in scholarship, research, and service across agricultural and applied sciences.
