Kansas Board of Regents December meeting agenda items

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet on Dec. 13 at the Curtis State Office Building in Topeka. A livestream will be available for individuals to listen remotely.

The Regents will consider the following agenda items related to Kansas State University.

Consent agenda

K-State requests Juergen Richt continue to serve as a regents distinguished professor. Richt is the principal investigator and director of the Center of Excellence for Emerging and Zoonotic Animal Diseases and the principal investigator and director of the Center on Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, an NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence.

K-State requests approval to amend the fiscal year 2024 capital improvement project plan and to accept the program statement for renovations to Willard Hall, King Hall and the Chemistry/Biochemistry Building. Renovations will support the geology department's relocation from Thompson Hall. The estimated project cost is $5.2 million.

K-State requests authorization to execute a ground lease with the Salina Airport Authority for development of the Kansas Advanced Immersive Research for Emerging Systems Center. The center will provide specialized labs, auditoriums, simulation stages and cyber networks required for advanced simulation by Pure Imagination Labs.

Discussion agenda

The Regents will vote on housing and food service rates for the 2024-2025 academic year, which are effective July 1, 2024.

The Regents will receive a report on the state universities' facilities condition, space utilization and projected maintenance assessment expenditures.

The Regents will allocate fiscal year 2025 Educational Building Funds, which support rehabilitation and repair-type projects for mission-critical facilities to state universities. K-State's recommended allocation for fiscal year 2025 is $18,537,000.

Additionally, the Board Governance Committee will review proposed revisions to the board's policy on non-reappointment of university employees other than tenured and tenure-track faculty.
