Submitted by Thom Jackson

Associate Professor Christopher Fein was recently awarded a prestigious 2023 American Institute of Architects - Kansas, or AIA-Kansas, Excellence in Design Award. Fein received an honorable mention in the small architectural project category for his architectural project, "The Mid-Western," which combines modern design elements with a deep understanding of the historical context of the original house. Fein's dedication to design, functionality and aesthetics is evident in every aspect of the project.

"We are thrilled to see Associate Professor Chris Fein recognized with the AIA-Kansas Excellence in Design Award for his exceptional work on 'The Mid-Western,'" said Michael McClure, dean of the College of Architecture, Planning & Design. "This award is a testament to his talent, dedication and innovative approach to architecture."

The AIA-Kansas Excellence in Design Awards are a testament to the innovative and visionary work of professionals in the architectural community. This award recognizes projects that demonstrate exceptional design, creativity and commitment to advancing the practice of architecture. The award was presented to Fein during the AIA-Kansas Excellence in Design Awards Ceremony on October 4-5 in Manhattan, where he had the opportunity to share his insights and experiences with fellow architects, students and enthusiasts.
