Elliot Young has been hired as the assistant vice president, university risk and compliance officer following a national search. Young will begin his new job Feb. 17.

As assistant vice president, he will be responsible for developing and implementing an institutional enterprise risk management and compliance program that minimizes overall institutional risk and promotes a culture of compliance and the highest standards of ethics, integrity and responsibility in the university community.

"We are excited to welcome Elliot to K-State," said Cindy Bontrager, vice president and chief operating officer. "His energy and initiative, along with his unique background in law, higher education and experience in risk management at Cornell University, make him an excellent addition to the university and instrumental in formulating the enterprise risk management framework."

Young has experience in higher education risk management and student affairs. He most recently worked as a risk management specialist at Cornell University where he engaged and managed a variety of risk management and insurance programs. He also worked as a risk management specialist at Praesidium Inc. and is a certified court appointed mediator.

He received his master's degree in higher education administration from the University of Kansas, his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University and his bachelor's degree in political science from Texas Christian University.
