Black Student Union helps organize university's observance of Black History Month

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

February is Black History Month and Kansas State University's Black Student Union has organized several events to observe the month.

Activities, all free and open to the public, include:

* The MANNRS Diversity Awards at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Little Theater at the K-State Student Union. MANNRS stands for Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences.

* A question-and-answer session with Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, in Nichols Hall. Parks' visit to the university is also sponsored by Ebony Theatre and the Diversity Programming Committee.

In addition to those events, Black Student Union also will sponsor workshops to educate people about African-American history every Tuesday during the month of February at 7 p.m. in Room 227 of the Union.
