K-State Confucius Institute presents Chinese folk music concert Oct. 24

By Shijun Yan

The K-State Confucius Institute will present a Chinese folk music concert from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Forum Hall at the K-State Student Union.

The concert will be a great opportunity to enjoy authentic Chinese folk music. It will feature the Chinese Folk Music Student Orchestra from Xi'an Jiaotong University, which will play a number of folk music numbers that have originated over different periods of Chinese history.

Zhang Yanwu, conductor, is a renowned composer and flutist specializing in the bamboo flute and has led the orchestra to play in many campus venues in China and overseas. The cost is $5 for nonstudents and $3 for K-State students, with free admission for children 10 years and younger. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the Confucius Institute or at the door the day of the event.

For tickets, contact Ma Man at manma@k-state.edu or call 785-532-3680. Everyone is welcome to attend.
