Faculty Exchange for Teaching Excellence and Peer Review of Teaching Program coordinator positions opening

By Jana Fallin

At K-State's Teaching and Learning Center, several of the programs have coordinators who are faculty members. These positions rotate, and the coordinators for the Faculty Exchange for Teaching Excellence and the Peer Review of Teaching Program are open for fall 2017.

Faculty Exchange for Teaching Excellence is dedicated to the enhancement of teaching and learning at K-State. This mission is accomplished by a committee of colleagues from each college and K-State Polytechnic Campus who work together to create, promote and implement professional development programming for the campus community. Faculty Exchange for Teaching and Learning sponsors workshops, presentations and study groups open to all K-State faculty and graduate students, and led by K-State faculty and experts from other institutions who share their experiences, expertise and passion for enhancing student learning. The coordinator chairs the committee.

The objective of the Peer Review of Teaching Program is to help faculty members develop and document their teaching. The program is designed to support faculty in the development of a community of scholars who write about the intellectual work involved in their teaching and who share that writing with interested colleagues. The coordinator works with the center to assign mentors for each participant in the program. They lead a fall project orientation meeting and have monthly meetings in the spring with peers and mentors. Peers will create a portfolio to be submitted at the conclusion of the program.

If you are interested in serving as one of these coordinators, or for more information, please contact the Teaching at Learning Center at teachingandlearning@k-state.edu or 785-532-7828 for more information.
