Division of Biology Seminar April 7
Sudeep Chandra, University of Nevada, Reno, will present "Life Beneath Tahoe Waters-The Good, Bad and the Weird" as part of the Division of Biology Seminar Series at 4 p.m. Friday, April 7, in 221 Ackert Hall.
Chandra's lecture is based on sentinel ecosystems, mountain lakes integrate environmental influences from the local, regional and global level. In this seminar, Chandra will provide an overview of science-based changes documented in Lake Tahoe at the population, community and ecosystem levels of ecological organization. Highlighting the conservation challenges facing the ecosystem today from land use alterations, the establishment of invasive species, and more recently climate alterations — atmospheric rivers and warming — we can discuss whether it is possible to restore the largest, deepest lake in the Sierra Nevada. Come learn about life beneath Tahoe waters.
