Generosity from K-Staters supports many area nonprofits
K-Staters have raised nearly half of the K-State United Way campaign goal in just over three weeks. As of Nov. 14, 267 K-State employees have pledged $47,873.50.
These funds help assist the Manhattan Emergency Shelter Inc. cover operation expenses including staffing costs for nights and weekends, insurance and utilities.
The number of individuals needing assistance continues to rise. This year, 465 individuals have utilized the Manhattan Emergency Shelter's emergency housing.
In 2015, 494 individuals received support from the emergency shelter, including 100 children. All households are matched with a case manager to help set and achieve goals to reach financial and housing stability.
Employees are encouraged to continue to donate any time through HRIS/Employee Self Service so efforts are counted toward the K-State United Way campaign. You can designate a gift to the United Way in your community, to make sure the funds stay local.
K-State employees who contribute to the campaign will be entered into a drawing for a parking pass or one day off with pay. Winners will be announced at a later date.
