University Support Staff Senate thanks President Schulz for recent donation
President Kirk Schulz continues to show his support for university support staff, or USS, by donating an amount equal to a raise he recently received to the University Support Staff Awards program. The University Support Staff Senate would like to publicly thank President Schulz on behalf of all Kansas State University support staff.
It is widely recognized that there is a lack of necessary funds for a campuswide salary pool for faculty and staff. That is why a recent announcement in K-State Today about President Schulz providing a personal gift equal to the amount of the raise awarded to him by the Kansas Board of Regents warrants public recognition of our sincere appreciation for this gift.
Many times we have heard the statement of value that is put upon K-State's employees, but this kindness truly demonstrates the words we have heard many times expressed by the president. The University Support Staff Awards program has been of great value to university support staff throughout the past few years.
This program was a way to recognize staff during the lean years when we were state civil service classified employees. It continues now that we are university support staff. This program supports university support staff who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and/or extraordinary effort in their position, which proves to be a valuable service to the K-State community.
Again, this donation to the University Support Staff Awards program is another fine example of the president's generosity in support of university support staff. Thank you, President Kirk Schulz, for all the support you have given university support staff during your tenure here at Kansas State University.
