By Sarah McGreer Hoyt

Slawomir Dobrzanski

Start the beautiful month of May off right! Enjoy music, dessert and wine with your friends at an encore piano performance by Slawomir Dobrzanski. The event is presented by the Friends of K-State Libraries at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 1, in Hale Library's Hemisphere Room.

Dobrzanski will play Franz Liszt's "Sonnets of Petrarch No. 123, S.161 No. 5" and the "Sonnets of Petrarch No. 104, S.161 No.4." Concert-goers will experience the joy of hearing Petrarch's poetry recited as the Liszt piano composition is played. Deepak Prem Subramony will be the narrator. Dobrzanski also will play music by Mozart, Chopin and Komitas.

Dobrzanski teaches applied piano, chamber music and piano literature at K-State. As a soloist and chamber musician, he often performs in Asia, Europe, South America and throughout the United States and Canada.

He is a graduate of the Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland and the University of Connecticut, where he received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2001.

Tickets are $30 per person or $10 per student and can be purchased online. Contact Darchelle Martin at libfrnds@k-state.edu or 785-532-7442 for more information.
