From the provost: Fall term syllabi statements

Submitted by April C. Mason

Dear deans, department heads, faculty and graduate teaching assistants:

As we prepare for the start of the academic year, please take a moment to review the link below about course syllabi. Remember to include the mandatory statements in your fall course syllabi, and please consider including the suggested optional statements.

I would like to call your attention to the Academic Freedom Statement that we are making available to you as a new optional addition to your syllabi.

To assist in your planning, please make sure that your exam schedule is up to date by reviewing the fall 2014 final exam schedule.

All faculty, instructors and graduate teaching assistants should refer to section F70-73 of the University Handbook to make sure they are in compliance with the final exam policy.

Please pay close attention to the "Prep Week" rule that no examination — unit or final — may be scheduled seven calendar days prior to the first scheduled day of semester examinations.

I have asked director of academic personnel Susana L. Valdovinos to answer any questions you may have about this. You may contact her at 785-532-4392 or svaldovi@k-state.edu

I wish you a very successful and productive 2014-2015 academic year.

Best regards,

April

April C. Mason, Ph.D.
Provost and senior vice president
