Extraordinary Student Award

This award is given to students who have overcome unusual obstacles (for instance, a disability, illness, a difficult family issue, or a major life challenge) and have been able to succeed in their educational pursuits.

Putting Students First Award

This award, which was started in 2006, recognizes one faculty and one full-time institutional advancement staff member who have had a major impact on the lives of K-State students over a number of years.

Organizations

Multicultural Student Honor Society

This group recognizes students of color for their academic achievement, encourages and fosters intellectual pursuits through a community of scholars, and creates opportunities for these students to help others achieve academic success.

Silver Key

Silver Key is a sophomore student honorary that emphasizes community service. To be eligible for Silver Key, students must have at least a 3.0 grade point average.

Academic Decathlon

The Academic Decathlon™ is a team competition where students match their intellects with students from other schools. Students are tested in ten categories: art, economics, essay, interview, language and literature, mathematics, music, science, social science, and speech. Gold, silver, and bronze medals are awarded for individual events and total scores. Winning teams advance through the local, regional, and state levels of competition. The state champions compete at the national finals.
