Entrance Requirements for Psychology Majors

In order to maintain the quality of our program for Psychology Majors, the Department of Psychological Sciences instituted the following admission requirements for our major:

To become a psychology major, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Present evidence of having earned a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 (on a 4.0 scale) based on a minimum of 15 credit hours earned at Kansas State University and sophomore standing.  Sophomore standing is a minimum of 30 total credit hours, including transfer hours.

 OR 

  1. Present evidence of 60 or more transfer credit hours from another accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50.

Freshmen entering the university can declare psychology as a major. 

Students interested in becoming a psychology major (BPSYCH-BA or BPSYCH-BS) should follow the directions in Declaring a Major in Psychology within the Psychology Undergraduate Student Handbook.
