The Community Health Institute is housed within the College of Arts and Sciences. The institute, established in 2003, is a research and development center for understanding and promoting healthy communities and healthy behavior in youth, adults and families through integrated research, analysis and education. The Community Health Institute works with communities through partnerships, performs behavioral science prevention and intervention research and creates evidence-based health promotion programs.
Institute staff includes faculty associate scientists with backgrounds in public health promotion and disease prevention to promote healthy behaviors such as physical activity and good nutrition and avoid problem behaviors.
The institute is supported by an endowment from the Kansas Health Foundation in addition to commitments from K-State Research and Extension.
