Colbert Hills, ParView partner up for 'Eye in Sky'

The eyes of the Flint Hills and the state of Kansas have long been on Kansas State University's Colbert Hills Golf Course. Now eyes in the sky will be focused on the majestic, 315-acre, 18-hole tournament golf course on the northwest edge of Manhattan as well.

Colbert Hills and ParView Inc. have partnered to add a global positioning satellite -- GPS -- system to the course's operation. The GPS system, developed by Florida-based ParView Inc., uses satellite transmissions to provide accurate graphical hole and green overviews, exact distancing, pro tips, electronic scoring, a live tournament leaderboard, weather and safety messaging, and two-way communication directly to the golfer via a video display unit installed on the golf cart.

"We are looking forward to a long-lasting relationship with the dynamic management team at Colbert Hills, Kansas State University and the legendary Jim Colbert," said David Chessler, CEO and founder of ParView. "This is an outstanding golf course property and we are pleased that Jim Colbert asked us to become involved in this project." The ParView System will provide the players with numerous benefits and amenities while enjoying a world-class golf course."

"Once again, another leader in the golf industry shares with me my vision of Colbert Hills and how it will change the world of golf," said Jim Colbert. "We are fortunate to have the support of David Chessler and ParView by becoming a Corporate Partner of Colbert Hills. The ParView GPS system adds yet another exceptional service for our customers."

ParView was founded in 1994 and is a privately owned company based in Sarasota, Fla. Currently. 155 courses nationwide are using the ParView GPS Course Management System. ParView was named in Digital South as "one of the top 50 companies to watch" and earned BoardRoom Magazine's 1999 Excellence Award for Advertising, Marketing and Promotions.
