Since 1972, the Family Center at Kansas State University has provided applied educational training to students while offering counseling, family-related educational programs and consultation services to the Manhattan community and Kansas.
The center provides an interdisciplinary focus with faculty participation from the school of family studies and human services. Doctoral and master's degree students under faculty supervision offer services involving marriage and family therapy and family life education.
The Family Center provides individual, couple, family and group therapy for issues related to traumatic events, personal life changes, relationship conflicts, relationship enhancement and other concerns. The center also provides mediation services through a certified mediator and has a unique play therapy program that helps children work through issues in a language they understand -- play. The center works on a sliding fee scale, which makes therapy affordable for those who wouldn't otherwise be able to receive these services.
