McCain Performance Series presents two books from 'The Interglactic Nemesis'

Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013

MANHATTAN -- Two books of the live-action graphic novel "The Intergalactic Nemesis" will be presented at Kansas State University's McCain Auditorium as part of the McCain Performance Series. "Book One: Target Earth" will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, and "Book Two: Robot Planet Rising" will follow at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19.

"The Intergalactic Nemesis" is a mash-up of radio drama and comic books, and features three actors voicing dozens of characters, hundreds of live sound effects, keyboard scores, and more than 1,250 full-color, hand-drawn comic book images projected on a two-story-high screen. The result is a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience that the whole family can enjoy.

"Book One: Target Earth" features Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Molly Sloan and her assistant Timmy Mendez as they stumble upon the story of the century: an impending invasion of mysterious creatures from the planet Zygon. "Book Two: Robot Planet Rising" follows the duo as they encounter many twists and turns on their mission to rescue the robot emissary Elbee-Dee-Oh from deep space. Book two is not a sequel to book one, so patrons may view either one, or both, of the shows.

"The Intergalactic Nemesis" is set in the year 1933 and is inspired by "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Star Wars" and the pulp serials of the 1930s. It has been featured on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and NPR's "All Things Considered."

Tickets for each show cost $11.50-$33 with applicable taxes and fees, and can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office, by calling 785-532-6428 or online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain.
