Urban planner, blogger Chuck Marohn speaking Oct. 14 for distinguished lecture series

Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013

MANHATTAN -- The College of Architecture, Planning & Design at Kansas State University will host Charles "Chuck" Marohn at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in the K-State Student Union's Little Theater as a part of the Regional & Community Planning Distinguished Lecture series.

The free event is open to the public.

Marohn graduated from the University of Minnesota's Institute of Technology with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's in urban and regional planning from the university's Humphrey Institute. He is the author of "Thoughts on Building Strong Towns, Volume 1."

Marohn also is a primary contributor to the Strong Towns Blog at http://www.strongtowns.org/journal/. The blog focuses on sustainable architecture and the problems derived from a lack of focus and understanding of what makes places productive and how productivity is built. The blog focuses on how individuality and personal planning leads to much higher productivity than large municipal building projects.

More information about Marohn is available at http://www.strongtowns.org.
