'Anton in Show Business' comes to Purple Masque Theatre April 3-5

Thursday, March 27, 2014

MANHATTAN — Kansas State University's K-State Theatre will present the madcap comedy "Anton in Show Business" by Jane Martin at 7:30 p.m. April 3-5 in East Stadium's Purple Masque Theatre.

This play follows three actresses across the footlights, down the rabbit hole and into a strangely familiar wonderland that looks a lot like American theatre. "Anton in Show Business" is a look at the joys, pains and absurdities of putting on a play at the turn of the century.

Tickets are $7 for the general public, seniors and military, and $4 for students, plus tax. They can be purchased in person at the McCain Auditorium box office 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by phone at 785-532-6428. Fees will apply to phone orders.

Kansas State University students in cast and crew include:

Drew Reisner, junior in theatre, Hoisington, lighting design; Ellyn Calvert, junior in theatre, Kansas City, as Casey.

From Manhattan: Sarah Boatman, junior in theatre, costume design; Deborah Bruner, senior in theatre, set design; and Laura Vallejo, senior in theatre, as Actress No. 2.

Lizzy Cook, junior in family studies and human services, Olathe, as Lisabette; Sydney Normile, sophomore in hospitality management, Ottawa, as Holly; Tori Ptacek, sophomore in theatre, Russell, as Joby; Shannon Madden, junior in applied music, Wakefield, as Actress No. 1; and Libby Stratton, master's student in theatre, Wamego, director.

From out of state: Daijah Porchia, freshman in theatre, Kansas City, Mo., as T-Anne.
