MANHATTAN -- Paul and Sandra Edgerley, Brookline, Mass., have made a $10 million gift to support the new building for the College of Business Administration at Kansas State University.

The proposed new building plan has 140,000 square feet of space featuring tiered classrooms, a large showcase lecture hall, computer labs, a financial research lab and an executive conference room. The plans include dedicated space for entrepreneurship and sales education, as well as space for study, collaboration and networking throughout the building. The goal is to deliver the brightest future possible for business students, including collaboration with industry and networking opportunities from the start of their college careers.

Paul Edgerley graduated from Kansas State University in 1978 with a bachelor's degree in business. He earned a master's degree in business from Harvard Business School in 1983. He is managing director of Bain Capital Partners LLC, a private investment firm based in Boston. He is a member of the Dean's Advisory Council for the College of Business Administration, serves on the board of trustees of the Kansas State University Foundation and is a former member of the foundation's board of directors. He was honored as the 2002 K-State College of Business Administration alumni fellow. He was named a Distinguished Business Leader of 2004, and that same year was inducted into the college's Business Leaders Hall of Fame.

Sandra Edgerley graduated from Harvard University in 1984 with a degree in biology. She earned a master's degree in business from Harvard Business School in 1989. She worked at Bain & Company for 10 years and is an active leader in a number of Boston-based children's and educational charitable institutions.

The Edgerleys are members of the KSU Foundation's President's Club, a philanthropic leadership organization for friends and alumni of the university. They have served the university in a number of capacities, notably as east region chairs for the university's most recent large-scale fundraising effort, the Changing Lives Campaign.

The Edgerleys have been generous benefactors of Kansas State University for many years, having established the President Wefald leadership chair in business administration, the Edgerley family chair in the College of Business Administration, the Paul B. and Sandra M. Edgerley Business Administration Scholarship, the Paul B. Edgerley chair in business administration, and the Edgerley family deanship. They have also been leadership contributors to several initiatives of K-State Athletics, including the West Stadium expansion at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

"The new building is the cornerstone of an overall strategy for the business college," Paul Edgerley said. "The new building will create an environment and technology to provide students with a world-class education and attract great students and faculty. The net effect is that business college graduates will receive better educations, obtain better jobs and be more successful in their selected careers. Sandy and I are happy to support such a great institution and one that has extraordinary leadership."

"Paul and Sandra Edgerley have generously supported our students and the faculty through Edgerley scholarships and endowed chairs for many years," said Ali Malekzadeh, Edgerley family dean of the College of Business Administration. "They also endowed the College of Business Administration deanship that brought me to K-State. Now, their support of the new college building will help us educate tens of thousands of students in the next few decades. The Edgerleys' investment is helping us become an integral part of K-State Vision 2025."

"Paul and Sandra Edgerley have been incredibly generous to K-State through philanthropic contributions and also through their leadership," said Kirk Schulz, president of Kansas State University. "Their gift to the new business building will create huge momentum for this project. We are very grateful for all that Paul and Sandra do for K-State."

Philanthropic contributions to Kansas State University are coordinated by the KSU Foundation. The foundation staff works with university partners to build lifelong relationships with alumni, friends, faculty, staff and students through involvement and investment in the university.
