Laugh, clap, be amazed: 2017-2018 McCain Performance Series features big names from world of entertainment

Friday, June 16, 2017

MANHATTAN — The biggest shows from Broadway, music greats, comedy kings and some well-known classics have a new home: the 2017-2018 McCain Performance Series at Kansas State University.

This season's star-studded lineup includes Broadway hits "Kinky Boots," "Cabaret," "Dirty Dancing," "Jersey Boys" and more, as well as beloved classics "The Sound of Music," "Hamlet" and "Cinderella." Chart-topping groups the Temptations and the B-52s will appear, along with jazz great Kenny G, a tribute to the Beatles and several noted classical ensembles. Comedy will be provided by Paula Poundstone, David Sedaris and John Cleese, who will be live with a screening of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail." Bringing holiday cheer will be "A Charlie Brown Christmas," Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis and more. The force will be present, too, with the "One-Man Star Wars Trilogy," while Parsons Dance, "Riverdance" and "Swan Lake" will highlight the best of dance entertainment. Also performing will be Jake Shimabukuro, Tao Drumheart and much more before the season wraps up with "Dixie's Tupperware Party."

Season tickets go on sale Monday, June 19, with discounts available for those who subscribe to seven or more events. Single tickets will be available starting July 30. To get priority seating, join the Friends of McCain with a season ticket order of seven or more events by July 7. Friends members receive other exclusive privileges, including invitations to meet the artists, free parking and access to the Director's Lounge before shows and at intermission. Benefits vary by donation level.

Tickets can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office or by calling 785-532-6428. A downloadable brochure is available online at k-state.edu/mccain. Tickets are half-price for youth 18 and under for most shows. Half-price tickets for all shows is a benefit received by all K-State students.
