2011 Architecture, Planning and Design Achievements

* Two K-State graduate students and an alum received national honor society Phi Kappa Phi's 2011 Love of Learning Awards. The $500 awards to help fund graduate studies or career development. Recipients are Ashley Gleiman, doctoral student in adult and continuing education; Hannah Leventhal, veterinary medicine student and graduate student in animal sciences and industry; and Christopher Nichols, a 2007 master's graduate. * DesignIntelligence magazine ranked all three of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design's eligible programs among the top 10 graduate programs in the nation, according to "America' s Best Architecture & Design Schools 2012" issue. The landscape architecture program is No. 3 in the country; the architecture program is No. 5; interior architecture and product design ranks as the seventh best program in the U.S. November 2011

* Peter Magyar, professor of architecture and head of the department of architecture, is the first-ever recipient of the Pro Architectura Hungarica medal from the Association of Hungarian Architects. The medal recognizes architects working outside of the country, whose work and activities helped advance the profession and represent the excellence of Hungarian architecture and architects in the world. The award was presented in Budapest, Hungary. April 2011

* The master of interior architecture and product design degree program has doubled up on excellence. Already accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation, the program has earned first-time accreditation from the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The accreditation is good through 2015. The program has been accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation since 2005. Jan. 2011
