Research Immersion: Pathways to STEM (RiPS)

What is Research Immersion: Pathways to STEM?
RiPS is an 8-week summer research program offered by the Kansas Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation. This program pairs students with research mentors who help students to conduct an independent research project. The overall goal of this program is to provide summer academic and professional preparation to underrepresented students in STEM fields.
What are the dates for the summer program?
June 1, 2015 to July 24, 2015
When is the application deadline?
March 2, 2015
Who should apply?
Current community college students who have completed at least one year at their community college and intend to transfer to Kansas State University
Current Kansas State University students who have transferred from Dodge City Community College, Donnelly College, Garden City Community College or Seward County Community college

What are the financial benefits of this program?
- Stipend: $3,000

What areas of research are supported?
RiPS supports research in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. A complete list can be found HERE.
How do I apply?Applications for the 2015 RiPS program are no longer being accepted. Applications for the 2016 RiPS program will be posted here during Fall 2015.
What happens after I apply?
The selection committee will make the final decision on Research Immersion: Pathways to STEM participants and applicants will be notified of the committee's decision by March 20, 2015.
What happens if I get accepted into the program?
Accepted students will need to confirm their participation in the program by April 3, 2015. Following your acceptance, you will receive an informational packet, which will contain important program information.
