Research Immersion: Pathways to STEM (RiPS)

What is Research Immersion: Pathways to STEM?
RiPS is an 8-week summer research program offered by the Kansas Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation. This program pairs students with research mentors who help students to conduct an independent research project. The overall goal of this program is to provide summer academic and professional preparation to underrepresented students.
What are the dates for the summer program?
June 2015 – July 2015 (Exact dates will be provided after November 1, 2104)
When is the application deadline?
March 2015 (Exact date to be provided after November 1, 2014)
Who should apply?
Students who identify with the following groups: Hispanic/Latin American, African American, Mexican/Mexican American, American Indian, Pacific Islander or multicultural
Are current Kansas State University students who have transferred from Dodge City Community College, Donnelly College, Garden City Community College or Seward County Community college
Are current community college students who have completed at least one year at their community college and intend to transfer to Kansas State
Are current Kansas State students in their second or third year of college.

What are the financial benefits of this program?
- Stipend: $3,000

What areas of research are supported?
RiPS supports research in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. A complete list can be found HERE.
How do I apply?
Applications for the RiPS 2015 program will be available in November 2014. Please refer to the Application checklist (above) for specifics about application materials.
What happens after I apply?
The selection committee will make the final decision on Research Immersion: Pathways to STEM participants and applicants will be notified of the committee's decision by April 2015 (exact date to be provided after November 1, 2014).
What happens if I get accepted into the program?
Accepted students will need to confirm their participation in the program by May 2015 (exact date to be provided after November 1, 2014). Following your acceptance, you will receive an informational packet, which will contain important program information.
