Configuring the iPhone

  • Zimbra Mobile works with your Microsoft Exchange server settings. As far as the iPhone is concerned, you are connecting to an Exchange server even though we don't have an Exchange Server at K-State.
  • You can only connect to one Exchange server at a time.
  • If you are currently using iTunes to sync Contacts and Calendar data you will need to disable it. See the desktop connector for info on syncing these directly to K-State Zimbra instead.
  • SSL warning - During configuration you will most likely see a dialog informing you that the certificate could not be verified. We are still awaiting the final security certificates. Until they are in place will need to accept the certificate provided.
  1. From the Settings panel scroll down and then choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Notes:

  • The push mode can have significant impact on battery life. If you are experiencing problems you can configure the phone to pull data at specific intervals or set it to pull manually.
  • While in manual mode, iPhone applications such as Contacts and Calendar synchronize data when first opened. If an application is left running on the iPhone for a long period of time it may be necessary to close and reopen the application to retrieve changes made from Zimbra after the app was first started. Changes made to data via the phone however are pushed back to Zimbra immediately.
  • To select an alternative mode.
    1. From the Settings Panel, select Fetch New Data.
