Wireless printing instructions for Macs
Wireless printing from anywhere on campus to Pharos printers located in the following areas is available for on-campus users connected to the KSU Wireless network:
- Hale Library - Floors 1, 2, and 3
- Justin lab
- Dickens lab
- Seaton lab and library
- Union Copy Center
Notes:
- Users who have already setup Pharos wireless printing for Housing & Dining Services will still have to go through the setup for the university computing labs and Hale library to print to the above listed locations.
- Users can print to these printers from anywhere on campus, however, they will go to the release station in those locations to actually print the job.
- Print jobs are automatically deleted from the held queue after 50 min.
Installing the Pharos software
- Download and save Popup.dmg
- Double-click the Popup.dmg file.
- Double-click Popup.pkg.

- Click Continue and then click Continue again.
- Select a destination and then click Continue.
Note: You will only be able to select the startup disk.
- Click Install (or Upgrade).
- In the Password box, type your computer password and then click OK.
- Click Allow.
- Click Close.
Configuring the printer
- Open System Preferences and then click the Print & Fax icon.
- Click the + button.
- Hold down the Control key and then click anywhere on the toolbar.
- Select Customize Toolbar...
- Drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar and then click Done.
- Click the Advanced button in the toolbar.
- On the Type: menu, select Pharos Print Server.
- In the URL: box, type popup://pharosps.ads.ksu.edu/KS_UC_9050_Q.
- In the Name: box, type UCL & Hale Pharos Printer.
- On the Print Using: menu, select the Generic PCL printer.
Note: Leopard users will not see the Generic PCL Laser Printer option on the Print Using: menu and will need to search for it:
- On the Print Using: menu, select the Select a driver to use... option.
- In the search box, type Generic PCL and then select Generic PCL Laser Printer, 1.3.
- Click Add.
- If it is not already selected, select the Duplexer option to enable double-sided printing, click Continue, and then close the window.
Uninstalling the Pharos software
- Open Finder on your Mac.
- Under Devices, click your Mac.
- Double-click Uninstaller.app application in Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Pharos/Utilities.
- Select the Pharos Popup option and then click Continue.
- Click Continue again.
- In the Password box, type your computer password and then click OK.
