herbarium entrance Welcome!

The Kansas State University Herbarium is a research natural history museum of dried plant specimens numbering approximately 200,000. The collection has a regional focus on the Great Plains of central North America, and is particularly significant for its historical holdings from the late 1800s.

All Kansas and North American vascular plant specimens (>129,000) have been databased! Herbarium databasing is ongoing for specimens from outside of North America and we will soon begin to database our 8,000+ bryophyte specimens. Data can be accessed in a variety of ways. Please see the Database Access page for information. (9/25/2009)
