herbarium entrance Welcome!

The Kansas State University Herbarium is a research natural history museum of dried plant specimens numbering approximately 200,000. The collection has a regional focus on the Great Plains of central North America, and is particularly significant for its historical holdings from the late 1800s.

All Kansas vascular plant specimens have been databased! Herbarium databasing is ongoing for specimens from outside of Kansas and new Kansas material (current records > 80,000). Please link to the specimen database page and check back often for updates. We have also developed a mapping application for Kansas county distribution data. We welcome comments!
