K-State is focusing on advancing and understanding the implications of natural language processing and machine learning, along with integrating technology across foundational elements of modern human life by providing the opportunity to contemplate these integrations' ethical and societal impacts. Underlying drivers include sparking innovation in technologies grounded in advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data and data science, cybersecurity, aerospace technology, creativity and the development of smart and connected communities.

K-State's spending related to its mission of instruction, research and public service grew 8.2% from 2022 to 2023.
Licensing revenue generated $7 million in fiscal year 2023.
The university garnered $225 million in total research awards in fiscal year 2023, the highest total ever for K-State.
