• 2011 Community Coaching Academy Agenda:

    A series of three multiple-day workshops will give participants the opportunity to develop an understanding of the role of a community coach, gain facilitation and strategic questioning skills and receive experience in coaching community groups. This bold training initiative is designed in an experiential, applied learning format by having coaches work directly with volunteer community teams from their region. A rough agenda is listed below (Each day will run from 8:00-4:30):

    -The Role of the Coach
    -Tools for Guiding Community Change
    -Preparation for Working with Community Groups

    Thursday, February 17th (Community Teams join Training through March 2nd)
    -Principles and Concepts of Community Development
    -Understanding the Dynamics of Community
    -Community Leadership
    -Community Action Planning/Vision Statement
    -Community Assessment Resources
    -Homework/Community Capital Assessment

    SESSION TWO
    Wednesday, February 23rd
    -Community Reports
    -Developing a Plan for Identifying Local Needs and Resources
    -Community Development Assessment Tools & Surveys
    -Tip Toe through the Power Grid
    -Working with a Community Coach

    Thursday, February 24th

    -Disaster Relief Orientation
    -Long-term Recovery Overview
    -Disaster Recovery Resources
    -Strategic Planning/exercise
