Academic Advising at Kansas State University
April Mason, K-State Provost and Senior Vice-President, states that "Academic advising is one of the most important activities we engage in at Kansas State University. Through advising, we help students establish their academic and career goals and then guide them through the courses and activities which will enable them to accomplish these goals."
At K-State, we believe academic advising is critical to your success, so we assign students an academic advisor in their declared program of study or major. Enrolled students will find the name of their advisor on their Student Center in KSIS. If you do not see an advisor listed, please contact your department or Deans' Office. If you have any questions about your academics, please contact your assigned advisor.
This site contains a variety of helpful information, but perhaps none more so than the university-wide academic advising syllabus, developed in 2015-16 and approved for use by the University Advising Committee in the fall of 2016. This syllabus contains common elements for all students and advisors. It also provides colleges, departments, and other units with space for more focused expectations and guidelines.
