Electrical and computer engineering students recognized for their outstanding achievements

The Mike Wiegers Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering hosted its 11th annual awards banquet on April 24, celebrating the accomplishments of students, faculty and staff. 

Two graduate student awards, sponsored by Mukta and Anil Pahwa, are presented each year. Faculty nominations are submitted to an awards committee for review and selection. Deepesh Agarwal received the award for excellence in graduate research. Bala Natarajan is Agarwal's major professor. Chase Harvey received the award for excellence in graduate teaching. Dave Thompson is Harvey's major professor. 

The department offers three academic degree programs: biomedical, computer and electrical engineering. 

The biomedical engineering award recipients:

  • Outstanding Junior — Elizabeth Goetz.
  • Outstanding Sophomore — Joseph McNamara.
  • Outstanding Freshman — Jacob Samaniego.

The computer engineering recipients:

  • Outstanding Senior Academic Achievement — Mason Schwinn. 
  • Outstanding Junior — Zane Zollers.
  • Outstanding Sophomore — Simon Greisen.
  • Outstanding Freshman — Quinlan Seeberger.

The electrical engineering recipients:

  • Outstanding Senior Academic Achievement — Noah Becker, Joshua Koester, Braden Meyer, David Ochner, David Pierson.
  • Outstanding Junior — Colby Karnei.
  • Outstanding Sophomore — Gantzen Miller.
  • Outstanding Frehsman — Jackson Olson.

The programs combined to award the top seniors in leadership, service and research. The recipients: 

  • Outstanding Leadership — Morgan Woodsmall.
  • Outstanding Service — Ryder Jarrett.
  • Outstanding Research — Brian Parks.

Open House award recipients:

  • Leadership: Ryder Jarrett and Fizzy Morey.
  • Innovation Display — David Ochner with "Electric Cyberbike."
  • Interactive Children's Display — Devin Berry and Samuel Underwood with "ECE Circuits."
  • Degree Program Display — Arian Alhosseini, Michael Lindebak, Fizzy Morey and Dayln Schwarz for the Biomedical program.
