Interbelief Show-and-Tell series presentation Oct. 5

Submitted by David Yetter

The President's Committee on Religious, Spiritual and Non-Religious Diversity announces the Interbelief Show-and-Tell series for fall 2023.

The hourlong events afford an opportunity for dialogues about religion, spirituality and worldviews that reject such notions in an environment of trust and mutual respect. Each event begins with a talk by a speaker representing a particular tradition and drawing upon personal experience, followed by a question and answer period.

The first Interbelief Show-and-Tell for fall 2023 will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, in Hale Library Room 181 and via Zoom at Meeting ID: 450 206 9533.

The speaker will be George Gardner, campus minister for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, who will present "Faith in The Face of Adversity: My Story."

Presentation abstract: "It is not difficult to believe in God or have faith in God when life is manageable. But, what happens when life spins out of control? How will we respond when circumstances turn against us? Is faith in God of value when adversity intensifies to the point of threatening life itself? I wrestled with these questions and others like them as I battled cancer that threatened my life. This is my story about this journey."

The other speakers this semester will be Justin Kastner from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 and Julie Lombardo from noon to 1 p.m. on Nov. 14, both in Hale Library Room 181 and via Zoom at the Meeting ID above. Presentation titles to be announced.

The President's Committee on Religious, Spiritual and Nonreligious Diversity welcomes those of all global religious, spiritual and nonreligious commitments. Further, we welcome any suggestions, questions or other comments. Please contact the committee’s interim chair, David Yetter, at dyetter@k-state.edu
