Celebrate first-generation graduates on May 12

Submitted by Rebeca Paz

The Office of First-generation Students and several campus partners will celebrate this year's first-generation May and summer graduates from 7-8 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Forum Hall.

The Office of First-generation Students recognizes the importance of celebrating students' accomplishments and the significance of this milestone for the students, their families and their support systems.

All first-generation graduates received an invitation to this event with an RSVP deadline of April 28. The graduates in attendance will receive a green cord, symbolizing their resilience, to wear to commencement as well as other small tokens of congratulatory sentiment.

Thank you to the following partners for their valuable contribution and generosity to make this event possible: K-State Alumni Association; Career Center; College of Arts and Sciences; geography and geospatial sciences department; K-State First; K-State Libraries; Educational Supportive Services; Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging; Cashiers and Student Accounts; and Staley School of Leadership.
