Kansas Board of Regents December meeting agenda items

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

The Kansas Board of Regents will meet Dec. 14 and 15 at the Curtis State Office building in Topeka. A livestream will be available for individuals to listen remotely.

The Regents will consider the following agenda items related to Kansas State University.

Consent agenda

K-State requests approval to amend the fiscal year 2023 capital improvement project plan and to accept the program statement for renovations to the indoor track facility. Indoor track operations will be relocated from Ahearn Field House to the existing indoor football practice facility due to the loss of key support spaces resulting from the planned demolition of the natatorium and gymnasium. The estimated project cost is approximately $10 million.

K-State requests approval to finalize the sale of a vacant duplex in Omaha, Nebraska, to Ronald and Betsy Meredith for $655,000. The property was previously used to house fourth-year veterinary medicine students while in a rotation at the Referral Clinic in Omaha.

Discussion agenda

The Regents will receive rpk Group's academic portfolio review and recommendations. Campus feedback on the report will be collected and shared with the Regents before the Regents take action on the report in March 2023.

The Regents will vote on housing and food service rates for the 2023-2024 academic year, which are effective July 1, 2023. Rate increases are requested to address inflationary pressures and to offer more robust meals and dorm amenities on the Salina campus.

On Thursday, Dec. 15, the Regents will receive a report on the state universities' facilities condition and space utilization, projected fiscal year 2023 maintenance assessments and fiscal year 2022 Educational Building Fund expenditures.

The Regents will allocate fiscal year 2024 Educational Building Funds, which support rehabilitation and repair type projects for mission critical facilities, to state universities. K-State's recommended allocation for fiscal year 2024 is $14,950,000.
