Save the date: Research and the State poster forum
The K-State community is invited to the Graduate Student Council’s annual Research and the State graduate student poster forum, which will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the K-State Student Union courtyard.
At the annual forum, K-State graduate students present posters of their research or scholarly work and discuss the implications their work has for issues of interest in the state of Kansas. Judges will select 10 presenters to receive scholarship awards and to represent K-State at the annual Capitol Graduate Research Summit. The summit will take place in the spring at the State Capitol Building, where graduate students from Kansas Regents institutions present their posters to state legislators and the public.
More than 50 students are registered for this year's Research and the State forum, which nearly doubles the number of participants in 2021. The participants represent seven academic colleges and more than 20 graduate programs.
Research and the State supports graduate student communication and presentation skills development. In particular, participating in the event gives graduate students experience communicating their work to non-expert audiences, which is a valuable skill for career preparation.
K-State faculty, staff and postdocs are invited to serve as poster judges.
Judges play a critical role in Research and the State to not only select winning presentations but to provide feedback to presenters that supports their continued growth in presenting their research or scholarly work. If you are available to serve as a judge on Oct. 27, please complete a brief volunteer form to express your interest.
