College of Arts and Sciences seeks internal nominations and applications for assistant dean of students

The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking internal nominations and applications for the assistant dean of students position. Current assistant dean Alison Wheatley will retire in June 2022 after 36 years of service to Kansas State University. We thank Wheatley for her incredible work in the college and university The college will be hosting a retirement celebration in May to honor her lasting legacy at K-State.

The assistant dean of students position is a 12-month full-time administrative appointment with tenure in an academic unit of the College. Arts and Sciences, K-State's largest college, has more than 120 areas of study and more than 5,000 graduate and undergraduate students. The college's 21 departments cover all areas of the visual and performing arts, the humanities, and the social, physical and life sciences.

The assistant dean of students will work with colleagues in the dean's office to support the mission of the college; oversee student-focused operations for the college; work directly with students to address issues concerning their schedules, grades, withdrawals, transfers and degree completion; supervise the deans' office advisors and serve as the advising lead for the College of Arts and Sciences; oversee or coordinate various other student-centered programs and activities in the college; and serve on university committees that address student and academic issues.
