Employee data safe as KRONOS vendor experiences ransomware attack

Submitted by Communications and Marketing

Kansas State University was recently made aware that UKG, the external vendor for the KRONOS system that Administrative Support Center customers and Housing and Dining Services use to record employee time and leave, has experienced a nationwide system outage due to a ransomware attack. The situation continues to develop and we are working with the vendor to better understand the issue and potential timeline for the system outage.

To be clear, the only data that is shared with UKG is an employee's name, position number and employee ID. No personally identifiable information is stored with UKG. Also, K-State's HRIS database remains the system of record for leave balances and that information remains up to date.

Looking ahead, we will keep you apprised as the situation develops and our action plan to meet deadlines for the next payroll period.

Thank you,
