K-State lifts restrictions on university-related travel, effective May 17

Submitted by Elliot Young

Effective May 17, 2021, the current restrictions on university-related or sponsored out-of-state or international travel will be lifted. Until then university-affiliated or sponsored out-of-state or international travel for employees or students continues to be restricted. University-related travel in and around Kansas is not restricted. Until May 17, exemptions to the K-State travel restrictions may be requested and must be approved by the appropriate department head and the co-chairs of the International Risk Advisory Working Group, or IRAWG.

Any domestic and/or international travel must be in compliance with Kansas Department of Health and Environment travel and exposure related isolation/quarantine requirements and U.S. Department of State travel advisories and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention travel alerts. Travelers are responsible for unexpected or additional travel expenses, including quarantine costs. The accident and health insurance policy does not include coverage for quarantine costs. Travelers also must comply with special travel restrictions related to traveling with technology.

The university requires all employees and students engaged in university-sponsored international travel to register before traveling (PPM 3120). For any questions related to domestic or international travel, please visit the international travel and activities website or contact IRAWG@k-state.edu.
