Submitted by Dana Parker

The National Strategic Selling Institute will host its Spring 2021 Sales Week Feb. 15-19. Kicking off the week will be a presentation by keynote speaker Tom Short, chief growth officer at Lappin180.

Short will present "A New Era of Prospecting" from 3-4:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, via YouTube Live. His passion for psychology and neuroscience drives his success in helping companies evolve their sales approach. Before joining Lappin180, Short spent a decade officiating NCAA Division I men's basketball and traveled internationally for the International Basketball Federation tournaments. He also hosts a disruptive sales podcast called "Breaking Sales."

Other events hosted in conjunction with Spring 2021 Sales Week include a virtual Networking Event from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, via Zoom. During this event, students can network and learn more about companies interested in hiring talented students with an interest in sales before attending the virtual Sales Career Fair.

The virtual Sales Career Fair will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, on the Career Fair Plus platform. With 19 companies participating in the event, there are numerous opportunities available for full-time positions and internships for students with an interest in joining the sales profession.

Wrapping up the Spring 2021 Sales Week is an opportunity for students to get a professional headshot portrait. If students are interested in attending, a photographer will be available in the Business Building Atrium from 3-4:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18. The dress code is business professional and is limited to students earning a certificate or major in professional strategic selling.

Events are open to all students at the university, specifically those students who want to go into a career in sales. For more information on how to attend visit cba.ksu.edu/SalesWeek or contact Dana Parker at dlaparker@k-state.edu.

The National Strategic Selling Institute is part of the College of Business Administration and has been named one of the top sales programs in the country for nine straight years by the Sales Education Foundation. Last fall, K-State became just the 19th university in the U.S. to offer a major in sales. Students can also earn a certificate in professional strategic selling, which is open to all majors at the university. The professional strategic selling program introduces students to the fundamentals of sales and its innovative curriculum and sales labs, allow students to develop the skills needed to be successful.
